James and Tim, our Nursery Squad Managers
Whiston Wildcats Nursery Squad caters for children aged 5 - 6 years old.

The nursery training ethos is to ensure each child receives the necessary core skills and encouragement in order to improve at their own individual pace. We recognise that children of this age develop at different rates and require the necessary encouragement and patience in order for them to enjoy the game.
Training is structured around both your child's physical and emotional development with positive reinforcement and encouragement being at the centre of our coaching. Each training session contains the necessary core skills aligned with the FA National training requirements for mini-soccer, whilst ensuring the attributes of team spirit, reward, discipline and fun are introduced.

From the very start we concentrate on the main reason for training - playing the game! Whilst we have a blend of games, drills and routines to develop skill and introduce fun competition, it is the method of empowering the children and enabling them to learn from one another with minimum disruption from coaching staff that differentiates our approach.

"I get the greatest reward from seeing the players solve their own problems and with a smile on their faces! Within months I have seen a group of children develop into a team of friends who enjoy learning from the challenges during drills and applying them on the football pitch."

"Clubs such as Whiston Wildcats provide both training and skills to enable the player to either be proficient at amateur level, or to progress to the professional game. It is fantastic to see the extent and dedication offered by volunteers throughout the club in supporting grass roots football. These individuals must be commended for their efforts in providing a safe and quality learning environment for children to develop within football."
