"Let's start by being a little different and controversial!!"

A Message from the Chair

Here at Whiston Wildcats we recognise that winning constitutes a basic concern for everyone involved in football. Our mission is not intended to conflict with that. However, we do disassociate ourselves from a "win-at-all-costs" attitude.

We believe that the game is for the children, our players and as such our Club motto represents our true belief:

"Grassroots Football Development at its very BEST"

"We aim to produce good quality players, help them to make new friends, improve their ball skills and encourage teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play."

If that's got you interested in our friendly and family orientated club then please read on for a little history about our Club.

In 1998 the founder members decided to start and build football teams at younger age groups than already existed in our village. We felt we could establish a system to feed players through as they grow older, as had happened at many other local clubs for years.

Following the success of that initial launch we have grown significantly each year and now boast boys teams at every age from U7's, through to U18's and also four girls teams that we are very proud to have developed over the past few years representing the U8's through U15's. Our initial recruiting ground has now extended to all areas of Rotherham and Sheffield, from where we continue to attract new players.

In addition, we are constantly recruiting for our 'academy', or Nursery Squad, for any boys or girls who may wish to train, prior to moving into a squad as they become of age - the academy is open to all children who have had their fifth birthday.
